Ligny

THE VILLAGE

Situated just 15 minutes south of Orléans, Ligny le Ribault is a typical solognot village of 1 121 habitants. Surrounded by forest, ponds and heather fields, you entertain the grand possibility of encountering the local wildlife such as deer and boar just taking a walk around the village. They are a common sight and no more so than during the rutting season which is known world wide (please be sure to look at our theme week ends for the « brame »).

For the fishermen (and women) there is a communal pond where, for a small fee, a daily license can be purchased. Across from the fishing pond is a park which has picnic tables and a sporting parcours.

Or just sit and enjoy the Cosson from the old wash house which dates from the 1700’s. To learn about Solognot life during this period a visit to the Eco-musée here in Ligny will be a must but first see it on line : ecomusee-ligny.chez-alice.fr/

Along the hundreds of kilometers of trails that start from the town’s center, the walker or biker will enjoy sights such as deer grazing or close up views of the stunning castles that are numerous in the area.
